One of my greatest joys in life is photography, and especially, photographing birds and wildlife.
I am fortunate to have great friends who share that passion. I joined two birding groups in 2006 and participate in walks and outdoor events to learn more about birds, their habitat and way of life.
The challenge of finding the birds, learning their calls, watching them go about their daily routine, and attempting to photograph them, has been a lot of fun. I started by practicing “shooting” them through an open window on the second story of my home. They busily visit my feeders and it has been a pleasure seeing what new bird might show up next.
Following them with a long, tube-like lens, presents quite a challenge. They move!!!! Getting them in sight, in focus and with a good exposure is no easy task.
Recently, I have been able to expand my horizons by traveling and taking some photography/birding classes and workshops. The following pages will begin to reflect some of those exciting times, as I expand my knowledge, capabilities and acquire new equipment.
I use Canon bodies and lenses and a tripod for most shooting. I process images in Lightroom 5, Photoshop CS5 and use Nik plug-in filters.
Thanks for looking. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Also, let me know if anything is misidentified.
I live in southwestern PA.
